MEADOWLARK

MEADOWLARK

Bring on the storm, Summer
Bring on the storm
First kiss of rain
While the day is still warm

Scent of the desert
Arrives on the breeze
Smelling of Earth
And of Juniper trees

Long days over the meadows
Long days over the meadows
So sing, Meadowlark sing
So sing, Meadowlark sing

Splashes of colour
Where wildflowers bloom
Zinnia golden
And chicory blue

Midsummer nights
That are over so soon
Morning that stretches
To late afternoon

Long days over the meadows
Long days over the meadows
So sing, Meadowlark sing
So sing, Meadowlark sing

Meadowlark

Wendy Rule

The title track of my new album is named after a small native bird called the Western Meadowlark, whose beautiful song heralds the Spring here in New Mexico. The melody of the chorus is based on one of the Meadowlark's melodies. (PS, We also named our home 'Meadowlark' after the bird).
